Yesterday, I commented on Gary’s minimalism.  Today, Gary hyped up his simplicity by wearing a shirt that doesn’t even have a graphic.  I may be calling this too early, but… TREND ALERT! Minimalism is in! To pull off this look, think about clothes as a chore that you have to wear in order to fit in. If that doesn’t work, imagine you’re in a big group of people and don’t want to be seen.  Solid colors are a must while grays, blacks, and other dull colors are a bonus.   Have fun! (but only a small amount)

Today, Gary represents minimalism at its core.  The gray on gray combination is a refusal of color that turns Gary’s body into a silhouette. The sheerness of his shirt allows us to see Gary almost as if he weren’t wearing a shirt at all.  The tightness of his pants allow us to see Gary as if he weren’t wearing pants at all.  How courageous to see a fashion icon like Gary denying his clothes the ability to define him.   I would give him a Purple Heart, but that would unbalance his colors.

You know that cliched saying “Oh, you mean this old thing?”  People in films always say that after they are given a compliment on an obviously new piece of clothing.  Well Gary physicalizes that saying with this new(?) t-shirt.  As far as I know, this is the first time Gary has worn this shirt, yet it looks like he has had it forever. Plus, when I asked him where he got it, he simply answered, “It was somewhere in my house.” I can’t tell if he is telling the truth and it is old, or if he is lying and this shirt was specially imported from Italy last week.  Truthfully, I don’t even care because matched with those athletic shorts, this shirt is quickly assimilated to the Gary aesthetic.

What a smorgasbord of style Gary has provided today.  You could call this outfit a sort of “Greatest Hits” album of Gary’s clothing.  First of all, he is wearing the perfectly-fitting denim shirt with double breast pockets that is loved by all. Then you see the collegiate athletic shorts which helped Gary break into the the scene back in 2008.  As a bonus, Gary introduces two new singles into the world with his boat shoes and aged sweater.  If I know anything about anything, these two pieces will become classics before the day is over. You heard it here first.

As you may notice, Gary was traveling today. While this venture was not for the purpose of fashion, Gary understands that he will reach new audiences during his journey and needs to demonstrate his clothing prowess.  That’s why today, Gary went with the stunning, all-gray ensemble. 

Gary’s urban color pallet matches the desolation of his destination: New York City.  

Gary has a lot to do and a lot to see!  He finds inspiration in every crevice of life. So let him be free to see!

Today, Gary looked rugged in his black jeans, leather shoes, and western shirt.  Gary is not a cowboy, but he does represent the same fearless, masculine values of a cowboy. The rolled sleeves demonstrate Gary’s affinity towards hard work.  The light blues and beiges in his shirt represent his gentle attitude.   Gary is literally on a pedestal in this photo, but that doesn’t mean that he thinks he is better than the rest of us.  It means he is better than the rest of us.  All we can do is appreciate what Gary has given us, and try to shop accordingly.

Today, Gary wore black jeans with a color-blocked, hooded sweatshirt and laceless shoes.  Most people would have chosen to wear pants that didn’t match so closely to his shirt, but Gary isn’t most people.  Gary is one person.  One person with the power to change the world with the changing of his pants.

Today, Gary wore those dark grey jeans, a grey, graphic t-shirt, and a blue hooded sweatshirt. Known for his casual Sunday attire, this outfit with its full leg and arm covering is somewhat formal for Gary.  There was no occasion today, no holidays to speak of, so this must be Gary’s way of telling us that you don’t need a reason to fancy yourself up.  Just do it for yourself! I also don’t know if any of you have noticed this, but Gary has been incorporating shoes with laces recently. At first I was hesitant to accept these shoes, but look at them.  They reflect athleticism with style, metal colors with organics, work with play.  Gary looks like he could run a mile whilst drinking an espresso, which is harder than it sounds.

Today, Gary looked quite autumnal in this orange sweater.  I’m always torn about layering polo shirts with outerwear as it is frequently executed very poorly, but we can see here that Gary flips his polo’s collar up in order to mesh it with his outfit.   Gary plays with temperature and clothing expectations by wearing shorts even though the weather is now cold enough that I can see my breath.  Society expects him to wear pants, but he shows them that their conventions are solely created by them.
